Ah, Yorkshire Day - a day to celebrate the glorious county that is Yorkshire and its people, who are as stubborn and proud as the rolling hills that surround them. This year, on the 1st of August, Yorkshire folk will unite to honour their rich history and traditions, all while sipping on a proper brew (Yorkshire Tea, of course!) and resisting the urge to sing "Ilkley Moor" at the top of their lungs.
Yorkshire Day has been celebrated since the 1970s when it was first conceived as a protest against local government reorganisation. But let's be honest, any excuse to gather together, wear a white rose, and proclaim that Yorkshire is the best county in the land is a good one, right?
So, if you're in Yorkshire on the 1st, prepare for a day of endless pride, the best tea, and a sense of humour drier than the region's famous puddings. And remember, there's nowt wrong with being from Yorkshire it's blooming brilliant!
